KENNESAW, Ga. — The Jax State soccer team fell 2-1 in a Conference USA road contest against the Kennesaw State Owls on Saturday afternoon.
The loss drops Jax State to 6-8-3 overall and 0-6-1 in CUSA play, while Kennesaw State earns its second win to move to 2-10-4 overall and 1-5-1 in CUSA play.
Jax State put up seven shots in the first half of action, which was highlighted by Lara Aitken's goal in the 42nd minute, which was assisted by Lea Monteiro thanks to a deflection just outside of the box, to put the Gamecocks up 1-0 in halftime. It was Aitken's second goal of her freshman campaign.
Both the Gamecocks and Owls had a single corner kick in the first half and both had a save each.
In the second half of action, Kennesaw State flipped the script, putting up nine shots to Jax State's three. The Owls tied the match in the 50th minute before putting up the final goal of the night in the 77th minute, to record the 2-1 victory.
Kennesaw State just edged out Jax State in total shots, 11-10. Camdyn Magrosky earned four saves on the night compared to Kennesaw State's two saves.
Jax State will conclude the 2025 season on Sunday, October 26, with a 1 PM match against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. The match will be Senior Day for the Gamecocks.
