Volleyball Wins, Solomon Reaches 1,000 Assits

RUSTON, La. – Jax State volleyball ended the 2025 regular season on a high note with a 3-1 victory over Louisiana Tech on Thursday. The Gamecocks ended the season with a 14-14 overall record and an 8-8 mark in CUSA play.
 
In Thursday's win, Charlee Solomon tallied 38 assists. With her total in the match, Solomon reached the single-season 1,000 assist mark. Solomon has 1,013 assists on the year. Solomon added six digs, four kills, and a service ace against the Bulldogs.
 
The Gamecocks and Bulldogs began the match with an extended first set. Jax State took the first 30-28, LA Tech responded with a 25-22 win in the second, then Jax State clinched the third 25-23 and the fourth 25-18. Jax State had 52 kills, 51 digs, 42 assists, seven aces, and five blocks in the season-ending win.
 
Kayla Williams led the Gamecocks with 19 kills, while Sophia Schweikert added 11. Sanni Rantanen put down eight kills. Rantanen had a team-best four service aces and added two total blocks. D'Yanna Spicer led Jax State with three total blocks and Amaya Tolentino matched Rantanen with two total blocks.
 
Three Gamecocks reached double-figures in digs as Luci Wilkinson led the way with 14. Morgan Blazzard was not far behind Wilkinson with 12 and Williams had 10.
 
In the first set, LA Tech got up as much as 20-14 before Jax State scored six points to LA Tech's one, making it 21-20. Jax State took a late 25-24 lead thanks to a Schweikert kill. A kill by Williams ended the first.
 
With LA Tech at match-point in the second set, Jax State scored three-straight to make it 24-22 before the Bulldogs tied the set 1-1. LA Tech went up 19-15 thanks to a 5-0 run in the third set. Jax State stormed back with a 7-1 run to go ahead 23-21. LA Tech tied at 23-23 before Williams put down back-to-back kills and put Jax State up 2-1 in the match.
 
Jax State went on an early 6-0 run to take an 11-9 advantage in the fourth set. Later, Jax State went on another 6-0 run extending their lead to 18-12. The Gamecocks scored three-straight points to take the set 25-18 and the match victory.
 
Jax State moves on to the 2025 CUSA Tournament in Miami, Fla., next week. The Gamecocks await results from the final weekend of the regular season to learn their seeding in the tournament.
