STOCKTON, Ca. – Jax State lost the final game of the 2025 Tiger Turkey Tip-Off to hosting Pacific Saturday by a score of 70-63.
The Gamecocks (2-5) had four score in double figures against the Tigers (3-4).
Adriana Jones paced Jax State with a team-best 15 points in 36 minutes of action.
Mya Barnes returned from Saturday an injury that kept her out of Friday's game and accounted for 10 points on 4-for-10 shooting from the field. Barnes played 35 minutes against Pacific.
Makala Hobdy and
Mina Djurdjevic also added 10 points Saturday, respectively. Barnes and
Brooklyn McDaniel tied for a team-high seven rebounds, while Jones and
Kyera Thornsbury tied for a team-high four assists. Jones also tallied six rebounds, a block, and a steal.
Although the Gamecocks lost the game, Jax State dominated the boards, outrebounding Pacific 40-25. The Gamecocks specifically crashed the offensive glass as they grabbed 24 offensive boards. In the first half, Jax State outrebounded the Tigers 24-8.
Pacific opened the game with an 18-14 lead after the first quarter. A pair of free throws from McDaniel at the 6:42 mark in the second put Jax State ahead 24-23 before Djurdjevic knocked down a three to extend the lead to 26-23. Later in the second, Hobdy made a second-chance layup to put the Gamecocks back ahead 30-29 with just over two minutes in the first half. Pacific eventually held a 33-30 lead at the break.
The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair as the two squads traded baskets until Pacific went ahead 43-41 at the media timeout. A McDaniel layup with 1:55 in the third tied it at 49 all before Hobdy drained a three to put the Gamecocks in front 52-51 after three quarters. Jax State outscored Pacific 22-18 in the third.
In the final 10 minutes of play, Barnes hit a layup to tie it 56-56 with 6:18 on the clock. Pacific answered with a layup of their own to go up 58-56 at the fourth quarter media timeout. Late in the period, Thornsbury hit two free throws to make it 67-63 in favor of Pacific. The Tigers made a three with 18.6 seconds on the clock to go up 70-63.
Jax State is back in action at Pete Mathews Coliseum next Saturday, Dec. 6, against Mercer. The game is set a 2:30 p.m. start and tickets are available at JaxStateSports.com.
