CHATTANOOGA, Tn. – Although weather effected a few matches on the final day of play on Oct. 27, the Gamecocks men's tennis squad competed in the annual UTC Steve Baras Fall Invite at Champions Club in Chattanooga and had a good showing.
The event occurred over three days (Oct. 24-Oct. 26) and featured six flights of singles action. There were also four doubles flights that took place. The Gamecocks went 6-1 in the final day of the tournament across both doubles and singles.
In Singles – Flight A,
David Krasner defeated Chattanooga's Kristof Kincses in a 7-6 tiebreaker first set and a dominate 6-0 second set. The match featuring Krasner was the semifinal match of Flight A.
Alin Fatu beat Chattanooga's TJ Ryerson 6-4, 6-3 in Singles – Flight C's quarterfinals match.
Lucius Soller won 6-2, 6-2 against Chattanooga's Jackson Orsega in the quarterfinals of Singles – Flight E. Soller then won 6-3, 6-4 against Chattanooga's Sebastian Johnson in Flight E's third place match.
Marko Milosavljevic and Krasner won 8-4 in Doubles – Flight A's quarterfinal match against Chattanooga's Jaxon Lamb and Carter Ramthun. Lamb and Ramthun then beat
Timo De Visser and
Aman Dahiya in the flight's final consolation match by a score of 8-3.
In Doubles – Flight B, Fatu and
Matei Palcau downed Chattanooga's TJ Ryerson and Martin Delnido 8-5 in the quarterfinal match.
