Jax State Opens up CUSA Play on Monday at The Pete

JACKSONVILLE – Jax State is set to open up the 2025 Conference USA slate on Monday night, hosting the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at The Pete at 6 p.m. Last season, Jax State swept the Hilltoppers with a 73-67 road win and an 85-83 win at home.

Series History vs. WKU
Jax State and WKU have met four times as co-members of Conference USA, with WKU sweeping the series in 2024 and Jax State sweeping the season series this past year. WKU had won all five meetings prior to last season.

Jax State Bounces Back at ETSU
Jax State closed out its non-conference in impressive fashion, defeating the Bucs on the road 81-75. AC Bryant led the way with 29 points, while Mostapha El Moutoauakkil added on 19 and Emondrek Erkins-Ford finished with 17. The Gamecocks picked up the win after losing six consecutive games to Division I opponents. ETSU was receiving votes in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 entering the contest.

AC For Three
Jax State transfer guard AC Bryant knocked down eight threes against South Alabama, setting a new career high. Bryant is the only Gamecock to hit at least five threes in a game this season and has done so three times. The senior from Shreveport leads Jax State with 33 made three pointers on 85 attempts.

Looking to Make it Three
Mostapha El Moutaouakkil sits towards the top of Conference USA so far this season with 18.6 points per contest. The senior from Rabat, Morocco set a new career high with 33 points earlier this year against Coastal Carolina. Jax State has finished the previous two years with the CUSA scoring leader. Kyky Tandy led CUSA in scoring in 2023-24 with 17.8 PPG while Jaron Pierre Jr. led CUSA last year with 21.6 PPG.

Gamecocks on National TV (x3)
The Jax State Men's Basketball team is set to have three regular season Conference USA contests broadcast on national television this season. Jax State will make its national television debut on Feb. 5 when the Gamecocks travel to face WKU on CBS Sports Network at 8 p.m. The next two games are set to take place in Jacksonville on Feb. 26 against Delaware on CBSSN and on Feb. 28 against Liberty on ESPNU.
