NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Jacksonville State closed out its indoor track & field regular season on Saturday at the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn. Jax State is set to participate in the Conference USA Indoor Championships in Lynchburg, Va. beginning on Feb. 28. 
 
"Overall, this was a great meet to wrap up the regular season schedule," said Jax State head coach Jeremy Provence. 
 
After missing time nursing an injury, Beti Manzano Jimeno made her return to action, placing 13th in the 800m final. Breanna Becerra (36th) and Maxima Majer (39th) each ran in the unseeded 800m.

"In particular, our middle-distance group showed a lot of progress this weekend," said Provence.

Savannah Yates set a new program record in the pole vault, surpassing her old mark of 3.85m set last season, clearing a height of 3.87 and placing seventh. Kayley Stanley also tied the fourth best mark in program history at 3.72m, placing 10th.

"I'm thrilled for Savannah, who improved upon her own school record in the pole vault."

In the unseeded 3000m Emily Coddington and Olivia King led Jax State, placing 16th and 17th respectively, Coddington and King now hold the second and third best times in program history. Linda Grundmann placed 33rd in the unseeded 300m.

Katie Langford placed 41st in the unseeded 400m. Chaci Whitfield, Chanel Rutledge and Sara Mobayad Caballe also participated in the 60-meter hurdles. 60m hurdles Whitfield 57th, Rutledge 58th, Caballe 59th (of 61)

"We are looking forward to the off weekend of competition in preparation for what will be a very competitive CUSA Championship meet," said Provence.

Jax State will compete in the Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Liberty on Feb. 28-March 1.
