JONESBORO, Ark.—Jax State took second at the Mid-Winter Invitational, hosted by Arkansas State.
 
The day started with a sweep of No. 2 Vanderbilt to earn a bye and a trip to the championship match, posting a 218.5 average during the semifinal match. The Gamecocks took the first match 235-158 and grabbed a 2-0 lead in the series with a 201-159 victory in the second. Vanderbilt was unable to keep pace with the Jax State scoring as they closed the match with a 223-193 win followed by a 215-190 victory.
 
The Gamecocks faced seventh-ranked Wichita State in the final. After falling behind 3-0 with 213-202, 193-181, and 225-219 losses, the Gamecocks put up a 257 in the third to win by 99 pins. A 205-182 win by the Shockers closed out the match.
 
Third-ranked Jax State will be back on the lanes on February 28^th at the North Carolina A&T Stallings Invitational in Greensboro, N.C.
