Trio Opens Men’s Golf Season at The Stono

Three Jax State golfers took part in The Stono hosted by the College of Charleston at the Links at Stono Ferry in Hollywood, S.C.
No team scores were kept at the event, but redshirt freshman Richie Reck had the top finish of the group in a tie for ninth. Reck opened the tournament with a two-under round of 70 on Monday and followed with a 73 in the second round. During play Tuesday, the Middletown, N.J. native was one over again to finish the 54-hole tournament at even par and posted seven birdies.
Freshman Ben Shedd was 28th with an opening and closing round of 75 with a 76 in the second round. Shedd had an eagle in each of the first two rounds to go along with seven birdies.
Simon Wallen was 35th, bouncing back with a two-over 74 in the third round after rounds of 81 and 80 on Monday.
The first team event of the spring will be at LPGA International at the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate hosted by Stetson March 3rd and 4th.
