JACKSONVILLE—Just two tournaments remain before the Conference USA Championship for the Jax State women's golf team.
Following a runner-up placement at the Chris Banister Golf Classic, the Gamecocks head south to Lake Jovita for the Spring Break Shootout hosted by WKU on the South Course.
The Gamecocks were tied for the 36-hole lead at RTJ Silver Lakes last week and finished five shots behind Richmond for the team title. Sandra Menes earned her first career Top 5 with a 54-hole total of +15. Ebby Somers, Rachel Camp, and Paula Perez Cubinas all tied for 11th at +18.
Play starts on Monday with an 8:45 a.m. Eastern Time shotgun start and will feature two rounds of play on the 6,076-yard, Par 71 course. Tuesday will be a single round with an 8:45 a.m. Eastern shotgun start.
The field features two other Conference USA teams in host No. 57 Western Kentucky and New Mexico State. A pair of Big Ten teams will be in the field in No. 56 Illinois and Nebraska. Also in the field will be the second and third-ranked junior college programs in Daytona State and Seminole State, respectively.
Last year at the tournament, Jax State was sixth with a score of +16 for the 54-hole event. Ashley Stevenson was eighth on the individual leaderboard at one-under for the tournament.
