BIRMINGHAM – Jadyn Bonds set a new personal best in the javelin throw while
Maxima Majer took home first in the women's 3000m on the first day of the UAB Spring Invitational on Friday. Jax State only had participants in three events, with the pair starring in the opening day of action.
Bonds' distance of 39.93m on her javelin throw is the 10th best mark in program history, falling just shy of the 40m mark. The tally for the sophomore sets a new personal best and placing her third. Lydia Seals finished not far behind, taking home fourth with a throw of 38.43m.
Majer performed well in the 3000m, taking home first in the event with a 10:30.92 mark. Freshman
Clara Rubio Machacon also placed in the top 10, finishing sixth with a 11:08.16 mark.
On the men's side, junior Kaden Harris participated for Jax State, clocking a 9:12.94 time in the 3000m, placing ninth.
Abigael Rotich and
Cayla Johnson both also participated for Jax State in day one of the event.
