Jax State had nine marks rank in the program's Top 10 best during the weekend at the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt.

"We had many positive results that should give us added confidence as we approach the Conference USA Championship," said coach
Jeremy Provence. "It will be a very competitive championship, but we will have several opportunities to advance to finals and score points."

Freshman
Cheyenne Hill had a big day, winning the 100 Meter Hurdles and doing so in a program-record time of 13.75 seconds. Hill also ran the second leg on the 4x100 Meter Relay team that won the event in 45.23 seconds which was just 13 hundredths of a second off of another school record along with
Amiyah Johnson,
Jailah Loving, and
Ella-Grace Edwards.

Tori Mack took sixth in the 100 Hurdles in a time of 14.51 for the third-fastest time in program history. Loving was third in the 100 Meter Dash with the sixth-fastest time in program history in 11.8.

The Gamecocks put together another solid performance in the distance and mid-distance events with senior
Charity Mabuza finishing third in 2:08.31 which was good for second-fastest in program history and
Viola Jepleting taking seventh in 2:10.02 for the third-fastest time in program history.

Jepleting also took fifth in the 1500 Meters in a time of 4:24.76 which is second-fastest in program history. Faith Kurgoi was the runner-up in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase in a time of 10:53.55 for the second-fastest mark in program history, followed by
Selina Planken in ninth in a time of 11:10.23 which was the fourth-best mark in program history.

Naum Kibiwott posted a time of 17:29.8 in the 5000 Meters for the fourth-best time in program history, followed by
Mercy Jebet in a time of 17:35.53 for the sixth-fastest time in program history.

In the field events,
Aliyah Gidharry was third in the Javelin with a best mark of 43.14 meters on her first attempt and
Jadyn Bonds was fifth with a best mark of 39.56 meters on her third attempt.

Lennon Ibsen was the runner-up in the Pole Vault, clearing the first three heights on her first attempt, clearing 3.61 meters.

The Conference USA Championship Meet begins on Thursday, May 14
th in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
