Gamecocks Show Out at Josh Reidinger Classic in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Jax State track and field program hauled home seven top ten finishes, including two separate first-place results from Jadyn Bonds and Amiyah Johnson at the Josh Reidinger Classic, hosted by Samford, in Birmingham on Friday afternoon.

The meet was the seventh of the Gamecocks' outdoor schedule and the second to last meet before the Conference Championship meet on May 14-16.

Bonds kicked the day off for Jax State with an impressive showing in the javelin throw, tossing the implement 45.44m for a first-place finish and the third-furthest mark in program history. Bonds' day wasn't done yet though, as the junior placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.56m later in the evening.

Jax State saw some additional early success in the field as well, with both Sky White and Tierra Agee claiming a top ten finish in the long jump. White leaped a distance 5.85m which was enough for a fourth-place result and tied the fourth-longest distance in team history. Later in the afternoon, Lennon Ibsen tallied a season-best performance in the pole vault with a height of 3.66m which earned a ninth-place finish.

On the track, Jax State's mid-distance runners had a busy afternoon as well in the 400m with three Gamecocks picking up a trio of top ten finishes in the event, led by Amber Bailey's third-place result with a 56.10-second time. Emma Drinkard placed sixth with a time of 57.35 seconds and Katie Coenjarts finished in ninth with a 58.27-second time for a season-best performance. In the distance category, Lindsay Fletcher took home a third-place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:51.60.

Rounding out the track events, the Gamecocks had multiple highlights in the short-distance slate, highlighted by Johnson's first-place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 11.88 seconds. Alongside Johnson was Cheyenne Hill who placed fourth in the event with a time of 12.11 seconds.

In the 100m hurdles, freshman Tori Mack earned a fifth-place result with a time of 14.34 seconds, which is the fourth-fastest time in team history. Jax State finished off the day with the 200m, which featured four different athletes achieving season-best performances, all led by Jailah Loving's eight-place result with a time of 25.16 seconds.

The Gamecocks will have one final meet before Conference USA championship meet and will travel to Nashville for the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt on May 1.
