DALLAS - Jax State center Mason Nicholson has been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season the league office announced on Thursday.
 
Nicholson, a biology major, has earned CUSA All-Academic Team honors for the second consecutive season with a 3.50 GPA.
 
On the court, Nicholson has been a crucial piece to the first-place Gamecocks' success, averaging a team-high 7.8 rebounds per contest to go alongside 7.5 points per game. The Gary, Ind. native has started 29 of 30 games for Jax State this season.
 
The redshirt junior also leads the Gamecocks in blocks, having swatted 51 shots this season. He scored a career-high 20 points in a 73-67 win at WKU, also pulling 12 boards for a double-double.
