Box Score MONTGOMERY - Jax State managed 18 hits on the way to a dominant 18-5 win over Alabama State on Tuesday in Montgomery. Jax State also beat the Lady Hornets earlier this season 16-0 in Jacksonville.

Jax State (28-17) has now defeated ASU (13-30) twice this season by a combined score of 34-5.

The Gamecocks wasted no time jumping ahead, stringing together eight first inning runs, including six straight before Alabama State managed to record an out.
Morgan Nowakowski added two more for Jax State with a two-run single in her second at bat of the inning.Â

After adding two more runs in the second from a pair of sacrifice flies,
Haleigh Cushingberry struck a three-run, bases clearing triple in the fourth to give Jax State a 13-0 advantage after four innings. With two hits on Tuesday, Cushingberry extended her hitting streak to 13 games.

In just her fourth plate appearance of the season,
Ainsley Grimes stepped to the plate and rocketed a two-run double for her third and fourth RBI's of the season. Freshman
Savannah Smith also doubled home a runner in the fifth, earning her second career hit.
Kailey Martin and Cushingberry also managed an RBI apiece in the fifth.

Kat Carter started for the Gamecocks and tossed two scoreless innings before giving way to
MacKinley Portillo in the third. Portillo kept the game scoreless before ASU managed five runs in the fifth frame.

12 different Gamecocks tallied a hit during Tuesday's action, including catcher
Makalyn Kyser, who strung together a 3-for-4 afternoon with a pair of doubles.

Martin joined Kyser with a 3-for-4 day, knocking in two RBI's.

Tuesday's game marks the third time this season Jax State has scored 15 or more runs in a game.

Jax State resumes its CUSA slate this weekend with a road trip to Middle Tennessee starting on Thursday, April 17.
