The Jacksonville State bowling team went right back to work after finishing second at the NCAA Women's National Collegiate Bowling Championship last weekend at the US Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championship and Intercollegiate Team Championship at South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas.

In the singles championship, freshmen
Erin Klemencic and
Melia Mitskavich along with senior
Anna Warkel all competed in qualifying followed by bracketed match play. Warkel earned a first-round bye and the No. 8 seed with a six-game total of 1,287 in qualifying followed by Klemencic in ninth at 1,286 and Mitskavich 14
th at 1,245. Mitskavich won her first-round match over Lara Kurt of SCAD-Savannah 680-534 before dropping her second-round match to Maya Avilez of North Carolina A&T 675-572.

Klemencic knocked off Sydney Reardon of Delaware State 692-545 with the highest first-round pinfall in the field, then defeated Warkel 688-601 to reach the quarters where she defeated Kaitlyn Ruszczak of Arkansas State 750-562 to advance to Saturday's televised national semifinal against Jenna Lehrer of Monmouth. Her 750 is the highest single round in the entire bracket.

In the team competition, the Gamecocks lead the 16-team field with a 228.1 Baker average through the first block of games and led North Carolina A&T by 202 pins. The high game for Jax State in the first block was a 279 in Game 12. Half of the games were 230 or better.

During the second block of 12 Baker games, Jax State posted a 2,441 which was ninth in the field, but still maintained a 34-pin advantage over North Carolina A&T which posted 2,609 in the second block.

The Gamecocks then went into the bracket as the top seed and knocked off Lindenwood 4-0 and SCAD-Savannah 4-1 to reach the quarterfinal round of the bracket which will start at 1 p.m. Pacific on Friday against St. Xavier.
