Men’s Golf Begins Conference USA Championship Monday

JACKSONVILLE—Jax State men's golf will begin the four-day Conference USA Championship on Monday at Texarkana Country Club in Arkansas.
The nine-team field will go through 54 holes of stroke play to decide the individual medalist. The top four teams after 54 holes will advance to match play to decide the team title.
Jax State closed the spring portion of its regular season schedule with two third-place finishes and a fourth-place finish in their final four tournaments. The best showing was at the Golfweek Spring Challenge where the team was -19 after 36 holes and had the lead. Ryley Heath was the medalist at -13 for the tournament highlighted by a first-round 64.
Santiago Bailleres was just one shot off the lead at the Irish Creek Collegiate finishing the 36-hole tournament at three-under.
The Gamecocks enter the postseason with a 289.9 adjusted scoring average in 29 rounds and have posted a total of five top three finishes.
The field features four teams in the Top 100 in the lasted Clippd rankings with New Mexico State 61st, Kennesaw State 68th, Sam Houston 70th, and UTEP 99th.
Jax State will be in the last group off the tee during Monday's first round with Ben Shedd teeing up at 10 a.m. followed by Ricardo Matho at 10:11, Gabriel Restrepo at 10:22, Bailleres at 10:33, and Heath at 10:44. The Gamecocks will be joined by Western Kentucky and LA Tech in their grouping.
