JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State University student-athletes turned in an athletic department record 3.341 cumulative grade point average for the 2024-25 academic year.
In a year where several Gamecock teams battled for Conference USA championships on the field, Jax State student-athletes excelled just as strongly in the classroom setting the highest cumulative GPA in the athletic department's history.
Gamecock student-athletes registered a combined 3.360 GPA for the fall term, followed by a 3.320 mark during the recent spring semester. In addition to 14 consecutive years with Gamecocks posting above a 3.0 mark for the department, Jax State student-athletes have boasted a cumulative GPA above 3.2 over the past eight years.
"At Jacksonville State, we take great pride in the comprehensive success of our student-athletes, and the 2024–25 academic year was no exception," said
Greg Seitz, Vice President for Athletics. "Finishing the year with an outstanding departmental GPA of 3.341 is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our student-athletes, coaches, and academic support team. I want to especially commend the 13 teams that earned a GPA above 3.475 this year - a remarkable accomplishment that speaks to the culture of excellence we have established. Academic achievement continues to be a cornerstone of the Gamecock experience, and we are proud of the dedication shown across the board."
Last month, 259 Jax State student-athletes were recognized on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, with 103 Gamecocks earning CUSA Commissioner Academic Medals. Jax State's 3.341 athletic GPA surpasses the school's previous best 3.31 average from the 2019-20 academic year.
