DALLAS – Jax State Track and Field athletes
Cayla Johnson and
Kayley Stanley have each been named to the Conference USA Academic All-Conference Team by the league office on Friday.
Johnson finished her graduate year after transferring to Jax State in the summer of 2024 by turning in a 4.0 GPA in Social Work. Johnson starred for the Gamecocks this season in both the multis, earning both the second-best pentathlon and heptathlon in Jax State's program history.
On April 5, Johnson turned in a total of 4847 in the heptathlon at the Joe Walker Invitational hosted by Ole Miss, taking home second place. She also turned in the second-best score in school history with a 3566 point performance at the Conference USA Indoor Championships this spring.
Stanley, a senior from Nashville, Tenn., wrapped up her fifth year with the program being selected to the CUSA All-Academic Team. Stanley turned in a 4.0 GPA in MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
She set the program record at the Bulldog Alumni Relays in March, taking home first place before teammate
Savannah Yates claimed the top spot just a few weeks later. Stanley owns the current Jax State program record in the outdoor pole vault with a 4.07m clearance which she set at the UCF Knights Invite.
On April 18-19, she netted a first place finish against stiff competition in the Georgia Tech Invitational with a 4.00m clearance in the pole vault. Stanley also took home fourth place at the CUSA Outdoor Championships with a 3.87 clearance in the pole vault.
