Jax State Pitching Trio Tabbed CSC Academic All-District

JACKSONVILLE – A trio of Jacksonville State pitchers were named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Baseball Team, announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Jax State's Karson Bonaparte, Steven Cash and Ryan Geraghty were selected to the squad after combining success on the field and in the classroom. The trio was key to the Gamecocks turnaround in 2025 with a 37-win season and helped the program to the Conference USA Championship game.

The 2025 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Bonaparte, who had a dual role as starting pitcher and as a key reliever for the Gamecocks in 2025, made 15 appearances on the season and started in nine of those 15 appearances. One of his best outings of the season came in his ninth start of the season with 6.0 innings of work against to-seeded Dallas Baptist in the CUSA Tournament. The Lincoln, Illinois righty collected 30 strikeouts in 49.2 innings on the season. In his first season at Jax State, he carried a 3.59 grade point average, majoring in management.

Cash, a member of the Gamecocks' weekend rotation, was stellar as the year went on and was named to the CUSA All-Academic Team. The Centreville, Alabama lefty finished with five wins in 16 starts on the mound. He finished his first season in the red and white with 63 strikeouts over 86.1 innings of work. Cash limited opposing hitters to a .225 average against him.

Geraghty was a reliable arm out of the bullpen with 20 relief appearances. The Mundelein, Illinois sophomore registered 25 strikeouts on the season. He posted a pair of wins and recorded a save.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 1, 2025.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
