Kaia Elverum's first goal of the year helped Jax State come away with a 1-1 draw on Sunday in their home opener against UNC Asheville.
In the 75
th minute, Elverum took a corner kick which she banked off the far post, off a defender, then into the net to knot the game at a goal each.
The numbers on the box score were practically even, except the Gamecocks (1-1-2) had the advantage in the second half with six of their seven shots in the match coming in the second half and all five of their corner kicks coming in the second 45 minutes.
After conceding a goal in the fifth minute, Jax State faced a one-goal deficit at halftime.
Camdyn Magrosky made a pair of saves in goal.
Jax State will play host to Samford on Thursday at 6 p.m.
