
Volleyball Begins CUSA Play at Western Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Jax State volleyball is 6-6 heading into Conference USA play against Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers, currently 9-4, were picked as the preseason favorites to win the league.
The Gamecocks are coming off a 1-2 weekend at Jacksonville University's Dolphin Volleyball Classic. Jacksonville beat the Gamecocks 3-2 on Sep. 18, the Red-and-White then downed Florida A&M 3-1 on Sep. 19, and West Virginia defeated Jax State 3-0 on Sep. 20.
Over the three matches last week, Kayla Williams led the Gamecock offensive attack with 52 kills on 4.33 kills per set. Williams also contributed with 25 digs on 2.08 digs per set, four service aces, and a block. Williams is second in the CUSA with 184 kills and her average of 3.91 kills per set is third in the conference.
Amaya Tolentino had 31 kills on 2.58 kills per set, Keyauna Linwood had 22 kills on 2.00 kills per set, and Sanni Rantanen had 22 kills on 1.83 kills per set.
Charlee Solomon continued her impressive freshman campaign as she tallied 119 assists on 9.92 assists per set, 30 digs on 2.50 digs per set, eight kills, and four service aces. Solomon leads the CUSA with 432 total assists and is second in the league averaging 9.19 assists per set.
Defensively, Luci Wilkinson shined in the Dolphin Volleyball Classic as she accumulated 45 digs on 3.75 digs per set. Wilkinson added four service aces and 12 assists to her stat line. Wilkinson is second in total digs in CUSA with 203 and second in average digs per set at 4.32. Wilkinson was named the league's defensive player of the week on Sep. 8.
Morgan Blazzard had 26 digs, and Madison Konopka added 11 digs. Linwood led the Gamecocks with six total blocks, while Rantanen followed closely with five.

WKU's setter Callie Bauer, outside hitter Alivia Skidmore, and Middle Blocker Izzy Van De Wiele were all named to the 2025 CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team.
