JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State Softball announced the 18^th annual Tera Ross Memorial Tournament schedule on Saturday, featuring 12 games between 10 teams at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala.

"We are honored to host this tournament in memory of Tera," said Jax State Head Softball Coach Julie Boland, "[She was] a true Gamecock whose spirit, toughness and love for the game will forever live on."

Jacksonville State will kick off the event at 10:00 a.m. on Field One against Shelton State before squaring off with Faulkner at noon on Field One.

The tournament is named in the memory of former Jacksonville State pitcher Tera Ross, a three-time letterwinner that was tragically killed in an automobile accident just before her senior season.

"[Tera] embodied what it means to be a part of this family and we are proud to host this tournament in memory of her legacy," said Boland.

As a junior in 2003, Ross led the team with a 1.17 earned run average, still the third-lowest in school history. She ranks in the top five in Jacksonville State's career record books in four categories: strikeouts, innings, wins and games started. Her No. 31 is prominently featured throughout the Gamecock program.
