
Five Softball Players Named Academic All-District

JACKSONVILLE—Jax State had five players selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, announced today by the association.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must carry a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore. Additionally, they must be a starter or key reserve, mitting a minimum participation threshold.
Seniors Makalyn Kyser, Morgan Nowakowski, and Ashley Phillips along with juniors Emma Elrod and Amber Reed were selected for the honor.
Nowakowski, Elrod, and Reed earned the honor for a second time.
Kyser slugged .550 with eight doubles and a team-high 11 homers, finishing with a team-best 52 RBIs. Nowakowski led the team in batting average at .354 and added 24 doubles, four home runs, and 42 RBIs. Phillips posted a .293 average with 13 doubles, eight homers, and 42 RBIs.
Elrod hit .337 with a .507 slugging percentage, posting 15 doubles, six homers, and 45 RBIs. Reed hit .352 with 12 doubles and four homers.
That group led Jax State to its first Conference USA regular season and tournament titles in program history this season and racked up a 45-16 overall record.
