Gamecocks Back at Home Wednesday Night

JACKSONVILLE—After splitting their east coast road trip, the Jax State men's basketball team will be at home for four of their next five games, starting Wednesday night against FIU at 6 p.m.
 
The Gamecocks are second in Conference USA in scoring defense, holding opponents to an average of 64.6 points per game. They're also second in the league in field goal defense with opponents shooting 37.7% against this year.
 
Individually, AC Bryant is fourth in Conference USA in scoring in league games at 19 per contest over the first three games. His 13 made 3-pointers against Conference USA opponents is tied with Liberty's Kaden Metheny for the most this season.
 
Jax State and FIU both sit at 2-1 in Conference USA play after the Panthers beat
New Mexico State by 15 and UTEP by 12 in Miami last week.
 
The Panthers have put together two of the five highest single-game point totals in the league this year in league games and rank second in CUSA in scoring at 87.3 points per game and are second in field goal percentage at 47.5%.
 
Individually, Corey Stephenson is the league's third-leading scorer at 18.1 points per game with 34 made 3-pointers. He had 25 at LSU on November 13th, and 25 against James Madison 11 days later. Zawdie Jackson is second in the conference in assist-turnover ratio at 2.8 and is the second-best free throw shooter in the league at 86.3%.
 
Following Wednesday's game, Jax State will make the second-shortest drive in Conference USA to Kennesaw State on Saturday before opening a three-game homestand with Sam Houston, LA Tech, and Middle Tennessee.
