JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Jax State softball announced the 19th annual Tera Ross Memorial Tournament schedule on Saturday, featuring 13 games between 10 teams at nearby Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. on Oct. 17.
Â
Teams participating in the tournament include Bevil, Georgia State, Northwest Shoals, UAB, Calhoun, Faulkner, Snead, Wallace and Reid State.
Â
The Gamecocks will first take the field at 10 a.m. on Field One against Bevil and will remain on Field One for a proceeding contest against Faulkner at 12 p.m. Each game throughout the tournament is set for a 1 hour, 30 minutes drop dead time.
Â
The tournament is held in the memory of former Jacksonville State pitcher Tera Ross, a three-time letterwinner that was tragically killed in an automobile accident just before her senior season.
Â
In 2003, Ross led Jax State with a 1.17 earned run average as a junior, which is still the third-lowest in program history. Ross ranks in the top five in Jacksonville State's career record books in four categories: strikeouts, innings pitched, wins and games started. Her No. 31 is prominently featured throughout the Gamecock program.
