Jax State Set to Participate in NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Jax State softball team has been invited to compete in the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic, held in Clearwater Fla. on Feb. 11-14 for this upcoming season.

The Gamecocks will face high-level competition all tournament long, facing off against two Women's College World Series participants from last season, including the 2025 and 2026 national runner-up in Texas Tech.

The tournament, held at the Eddie C. Moore Complex, features some of the top competition from around the country each year. This season's edition includes multiple top programs including Alabama, Tennessee, Nebraska and Mississippi State.Â

Jax State will kick off the tournament with an afternoon contest against Texas Tech on Feb. 12, followed by a matchup against Long Island in the evening. The Gamecocks will return to action on Feb. 13 with back-to-back games against Notre Dame and Tennessee State. Lastly, head coach Julie Boland's squad will wrap up the weekend with a battle against Indiana on Feb. 14.

Last season, the Gamecocks put together a 45-16 record that saw a Conference USA Regular Season title, a CUSA Tournament title and an NCAA Regional appearance as well. The win total was the highest in program history since 1996 and the first time surpassing 40 wins since 2017.Â
