ATLANTA, Ga. – Jax State men's tennis hits the road after a pair of home victories to face ACC foe Georgia Tech Friday at 3 p.m. central.
The Gamecocks have gotten off to a perfect 6-0 start this season. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech sits at 6-2 thus far.
Jax State is coming off a dominant 4-0 home win against Alabama A&M on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The Gamecocks won the doubles point before clinching three courts in singles to sweep the visiting Bulldogs.
In doubles,
Charlie Penman and
Alin Fatu got the first win with a 6-0 final on court three.
Zach Murphy and
Lucius Soller then clinched the doubles point for the Gamecocks with a 6-3 triumph on court one.
Marko Milosavljevic and
David Krasner led 4-2 on court two when the point was taken by Jax State, leaving their match unfinished.
Krasner put the Gamecocks in front 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Yin Chih Lan on singles court two.
Aman Dahiya then won 6-4, 6-0 on court three to make it match point for the home team.
Timo De Visser rounded out the match with a 6-4, 6-0 win on singles court four.
Thanks to the win against Alabama A&M, the Gamecocks are now 27-4 in singles play this season. Dahiya leads the way with a 6-0 record, De Visser and Krasner are tied at 5-0, Fatu is 4-0, Murphy and Soller are both 2-0, Penman is 2-2, and
Matei Palcau is 1-2.
In doubles, Jax State is 11-5 this season. The doubles teams of Penman and Fatu and Soller and Murphy are tied for a team-best 3-0 record. Dahiya and De Visser are 2-3 together, Fatu and Krasner are 1-0, while Fatu and Palcau are also 1-0. Soller and Krasner are 1-1 together, while Krasner and Milosavljevic are 0-1.
Following the match at Georgia Tech, the men's tennis squad heads to Florida State where they will take on Southern Miss on Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. and Florida State on Feb. 22 at 10 a.m.
