Jax State Hosts Liberty for Senior Night

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — As the regular season quickly approaches its end, the Gamecocks will play their final home game of the 2025-26 season inside Pete Mathews Coliseum tomorrow night, hosting the Liberty Flames (23-5, 15-2 CUSA) for senior night.

Jax State (14-14, 9-8 CUSA) will be honoring a plethora of seniors before the contest tips off at 5 p.m., including AC Bryant, Aidan Driggers, Toby Nnadozie, Jamar Franklin, Mostapha El Moutaouakkil, Thomas Tut, Marcus Fitzgerald Jr. and Aitor Anabitarte. Additionally, there will be a halftime performance by the Leeds Jump Rope Team.

This will be the Gamecocks' second-straight nationally televised game, as the matchup will be aired on ESPNU. Jax State's most recent game against Delaware on Thursday night appeared on CBS Sports Network.
Saturday's contest will be the second matchup between Jax State and Liberty this season and the tenth all-time. The Flames took the first face-off of this season on Jan. 4, defeating the Gamecocks 78-69 in Lynchburg due to a 51-point second half outburst from Liberty in the game.

Jax State comes into the weekend matchup looking to capitalize off its momentum from its most recent win over Delaware on Thursday. The Gamecocks defeated the Blue Hens 80-70 in overtime, thanks to a career-high 24 points from Jamar Franklin, coming from a career-best eight made three-pointers throughout the night. Additionally, Mostapha El Moutaouakkil contributed 21 points and grabbed 10 boards for his fifth double-double of the season.

El Moutaouakkil remains atop the conference in scoring, averaging 19.1 points per game and has scored 20 or more points in each of his last three outings, highlighted by a career-high 38 points against Sam Houston on Feb. 21. The Gamecocks have also received scoring assistance from the team's third leading scorer, Jacoby Hill, who has scored in double figures in three of his last five games.

Jax State will have to rely on its defensive effort against Liberty, as the Gamecocks boast the No. 2 scoring defense in Conference USA during league play, holding teams to an average of 70.9 points per game, along with being No. 2 in opponent three-point percentage in the conference, holding opponents to just 33 percent shooting from three.

The Flames have been the team to beat in the conference all season long, but have suffered back-to-back losses for their only two drops of league play so far. Liberty fell 94-73 last Saturday against Western Kentucky before losing 74-65 to Kennesaw State on Thursday night. Jax State is looking to give Liberty its first three-game losing streak since the 2023-24 season in which the Gamecocks contributed to as well.

The Flames are led offensively by sophomore guard Brett Decker Jr. who leads the team in scoring with 16.5 points per game, along with leading the Conference USA in three-pointers with 93 this season. Alongside Decker is his teammate and two-time CUSA Player of Week winner Zach Cleveland who contributes 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game with six double-doubles so far this season.

The Gamecocks will wrap up its regular season slate with a two-game road trip, beginning with traveling to New Mexico State next Thursday, followed by a regular season finale at UTEP next Saturday.
