BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Jax State track and field program compiled six top 5 performances, with
Chaci Whitfield accounting for four of them at the UAB Green and Gold Invite on Friday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Whitfield competed in her first heptathlon of the season, placing second in the 60-meter hurdles and high jump, third in the long jump and 800m, and eighth in the shot put, resulting in a third-place finish overall against 10 other competitors with 2,955 points.
Rounding out the top fives for the Gamecocks were
Tierra Agee who picked up a fourth-place finish in the long jump, leaping a distance of 5.59m (18-4.25), while
Lennon Ibsen tallied a 3.42m (11-2.50) height in the pole vault which was enough for a fifth-place performance.
Jax State had two other athletes finish in the top ten, including
Jadyn Bonds' ninth place finish in the high jump with a distance of 1.55m (5-1.00).
On the track,
Emma Drinkard finished the 200-meter in 25.39 seconds, resulting in a ninth-place finish as well.
Sky White recorded a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing her event in 9.39 seconds and finished 18
th out of 37 competitors.
Next up, the Gamecocks will travel to Nashville for the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt next Friday and Saturday.
