
Women's Tennis Faces WKU Friday at Home

JACKSONVILLE – Women's tennis is set to host Conference USA foe Western Kentucky Friday. The Gamecocks are coming off a 4-3 home win against No. 58 ranked South Alabama on March 21 at home.
The win over South Alabama was Jax State women's tennis's highest ranked win in program history. The Gamecocks improved to 11-5 on the season with the win against South Alabama.
In singles play, Jax State has a 41-30 record as a team. Freshman Sae Kaneko leads the way with a 10-2 mark on the year. Following Kaneko closely is Irene Artigas who has a 9-1 singles record this season. Aneka Patel and Polina Ramenskaja both hold a 6-5 record, Emma Montagner is 3-2, Isabella Sambola is 3-5, Angeles Rodriguez-Rizo is 2-7, and Alba Roche is 2-3, respectively.
In doubles, two Gamecocks have 10 wins on the year to help Jax State to a 25-13 record as a squad. Kaneko is 10-4, while Ramenskaja is 10-5. Artigas is 9-2 and Patel is 9-4 in doubles. Sambola is 4-2, Rodriguez-Rizo is 6-4, Montagner is 2-3, and Roche is 0-2. The doubles pairing of Ramenskaja and Patel lead the Gamecocks with a 9-4 mark.
Western Kentucky is 8-10 this season. The Hilltoppers are 56-45 in singles play and are led by Virginia Madueno who has a team-best 13-4 record. In doubles, WKU is 19-28 this season. Madueno, Barbara Olvera, and Emily Schut are all tied for a team-high 7-9 record in doubles.
Following the match against the Hilltoppers, women's tennis travels to Kennesaw State to take on the Owls on Friday, April 10.
