
Jax State's Season Ends in CUSA Quarterfinals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Jacksonville State women's tennis's season ended in the quarterfinal round of the CUSA Tennis Championship Tournament Thursday when they lost 4-2 against Delaware.
The Gamecocks finished the 2026 season with a 12-7 record.
The match opened with the Blue Hens taking the doubles point. On doubles court three, Delaware's Katie Dollens and Lara Russiniello downed Emma Montagner and Alba Roche 6-3. On court two, Irene Artigas and Sae Kaneko beat Amelia Gorman and Navya Vadlamudi 6-3. Delaware clinched the doubles point on court one when Maryia Hrynashka and Paulina Jurkowska beat Polina Ramenskaja and Aneka Patel 7-6 (7-3) in tiebreakers.
In singles action, Kaneko tied the match 1-1 with her 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Hanna Vinahradava. Artigas finished the second singles match of the day and put the Gamecocks in front 2-1 by downing Gorman 6-2, 6-1 on court three. On court five, Montagner was beaten 6-3, 6-1 by Vadlamudi to tie it 2-2.
On court one, Ramenskaja was beaten 6-4, 6-1 by Hrynashka to make it match point for the Blue Hens. Russiniello clinched the match win for Delaware with her 7-5, 6-0 win over Isabella Sambola on court four.
Meanwhile, Patel's singles match against Jurkowska was unfinished on court two. Patel lost the first set 6-4 and was trailing 4-2 in the second when the match was abandoned.
