Gamecocks Win 8th-Straight With 4-0 Blanking of Alabama State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Jax State men's tennis improved to 15-2 this season thanks to a 4-0 blanking at Alabama State Friday afternoon. The Gamecocks' winning streak is now at eight-straight matches thanks to the win against the Hornets.
 
Jax State opened the match by clinching the doubles point. The first match to finish up resulted in a 6-4 win for Timo De Visser and David Krasner against Alabama State's Gord Fran Mileusnic and Vid Maric on court one. On court two, Lucius Soller and Aman Dahiya teamed up to defeat Martin Catrice and Matteo Lataste 6-4 on court two.
 
Alin Fatu and Charlie Penman were paired up on court three where they were tied 6-6 with Milan Ristov and Eloi Roux. The match was abandoned as Jax State clinched the doubles point on courts one and two.
 
In singles, Krasner put Jax State up 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Flor De Sitter on court two. Dahiya then defeated Roux 6-2, 6-2 on court three to give Jax State match point. On court five, De Visser clinched the match thanks to a 6-4, 6-3 final against Loris Gueli.
 
Penman was playing Ristov on court one when the match was abandoned. Ristov took the first set 6-3, but Penman was leading 5-4 in the second. Marko Milosavljevic lost the first set against Maric 6-4 on court four. Milosavljevic had a 4-1 advantage when the match was unfinished.
 
On court six, Fatu took the first set 6-4 against Catrice. Catrice was leading 3-1 in the second set when the match was abandoned.
 
The No. 73 ranked Gamecocks host South Alabama Sunday at 10 a.m.
