JACKSONVILLE—The Jax State women's golf team has faced the best competition nationally all season long. That won't change this weekend when it heads to the UGA Golf Course for the 2026 Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic.
Jax State most recently placed third at the Chris Banister Golf Classic at RTJ Silver Lakes, making significant improvements each day at the saturated course which was highlighted by a 297 team score in the final round.
Sophomores
Rebekka Stutley and
Lara El Chaib tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard with scores of +7 for 54 holes. Stutley currently leads the team with a 74.44 average score, with a 73.67 average during third rounds this season. El Chaib has an overall average of 75.44 with a team-best second round average of 74.67.
Freshman
Julie Kleppe is third on the team in total birdies with 35, behind Stutley (46) and El Chaib (36).
The tournament is named after Liz Murphey, a former golf coach at Georgia and Senior Woman Administrator. It is one of the oldest sporting events in all of women's intercollegiate athletics with this year's tournament serving as the 54
th edition.
The course measures 6,217 yards and plays as a Par 72.
Indiana is the highest ranked team in the field at 46
th and are joined by Alabama, Florida Gulf Coast, High Point, James Madison, Kennesaw State, Old Dominion, Penn State, Queens, Rutgers, South Alabama, Toledo, Western Carolina, and Western Kentucky. Individual players from South Carolina will round out the field.
The Gamecocks will start play on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Western Carolina and individuals and will start on the first hole.
