JACKSONVILLE—The Jax State women's golf team returns to action for the first time since October this weekend, taking part in the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate, hosted by UNC Greensboro at Hammock Creek Golf Club in Palm City, Fla.
 
During four tournaments that took place during the first semester, the Gamecocks participated in two hosted by SEC teams and the Golfweek Red Sky Classic which featured four Top 25 teams and nearly half the field was ranked in the top 68.
 
Sophomore Rebekka Stutley leads the team in scoring average at 74.08 this season with senior Ebby Somers second at 75.44.
 
Last year, the Gamecocks took fourth in the field, highlighted by a one-over 289 in the second round. Stutley took sixth overall in her debut event which featured a two-under round in the second with a 32 on the back nine, and an even-par round of 72 to close out the tournament.
 
As a team, Jax State was second in the field in Par 5 scoring at even.
 
This year's field features the defending champion, Virginia Tech along with CUSA foe Kennesaw State. Also in the field are Appalachian State, Akron, Lipscomb, Southern Illinois, Elon, Georgia State, Arkansas State, Arkansas Little Rock, East Tennessee State, Illinois State, Memphis, Butler, NJCAA No. 2 Daytona State, and host Greensboro.
 
The tournament starts Sunday morning with a shotgun start. Round two will be played Monday and the final round will be played Tuesday. Hammock Creek originally opened in July of 1996 and underwent renovation in 2013 and is a Jack Nicklaus Legacy Design course.
 
Following the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate, the Gamecocks will host the Chris Banister Golf Classic at RTJ Silver Lakes in Glencoe.
