JACKSONVILLE – Jax State men's tennis captured their ninth-straight victory with a 4-1 triumph against South Alabama. The Gamecocks hosted the Jaguars in the final home match of the season.
Jax State was a perfect 7-0 at the Jax State Tennis Courts this year. They are 16-2 overall with two matches remaining in the regular season.
Against the Jaguars (8-9), the Gamecocks took the doubles point thanks to
Lucius Soller and
Marko Milosavljevic downing Juan Accossatto and Adam Bouyacoub 6-2 on court two. On doubles court three,
Alin Fatu and
Charlie Penman clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 triumph over Victor Frumholz and Harold van Raemdonck.
Timo De Visser and
David Krasner were up 4-3 on court one when their match was unfinished.
In singles play, Penman clinched the win with his two-set win over Accossatto on court one. Penman took the first set 7-6 thanks to a win in tiebreakers. In the second set, Penman cruised to a 6-1 win to end the match.
Earlier in singles,
Aman Dahiya kicked things off with a 6-0, 6-4 victory on court three against Raemdonck. Milosavljevic gave the Gamecocks match point with his 6-4, 6-2 win over Deren Yigin on court four.
South Alabama got on the scoreboard when Bouyacoub defeated Fatu 6-3, 6-4 on court six.
Krasner was facing Braden Hannig on court two when the match was abandoned. Krasner took the opening set 6-2, but Hannig won the second set 6-4. Krasner and Hannig were tied 1-1 in the third. De Visser and Frumholz were left unfinished in their third set as well. De Visser won the first set 6-4 before Frumholz took the second 6-3. It was all square at 0-0 when the match was abandoned in the third.
Jax State now will travel to Austin Peay Saturday, April 4, for a 9:30 a.m. first-serve.
