Gamecocks Close Regular Season at UTEP

EL PASO, Texas—Jax State has one more game before the 2026 Air National Guard Conference USA Basketball Championship in Huntsville next week.
The Gamecocks are in a fight for seeding in the middle of the standings with a final contest Saturday afternoon against UTEP at 2 p.m. Central.
At 9-10 in league play, the Gamecocks are just a game out of fourth place where Kennesaw State, LA Tech, and Middle Tennessee are all tied at 10-9.
Jax State will be looking to shake off its first overtime loss since 2023, dropping a 77-75 game on Thursday in a game which the led by 15. Freshman Jacoby Hill recorded his first career double-double with career highs in points (24) and rebounds (15).
UTEP is in a four-way battle for two spots in the tournament and are coming off a 78-71 win over Kennesaw State at the Don Haskins Center on Thursday to end a four-game slide. The Miners were a 69-64 winner over the Gamecocks at Pete Mathews Coliseum on February 11th.
In that game in Jacksonville, the Miners connected on 11 3-pointers which is tied for the most they have made in a game this season.
The Miners are led by Jamal West Jr. who is a 55.2% field goal shooter and averages 14.3 points per game. He's also the team's leading rebounder at 6.5 per game.
