KENNESAW, Ga. – Jax State men's tennis closed out the regular season Friday afternoon with a 4-2 victory at Kennesaw State. The Gamecocks ended the year with a historic 17-3 record.
The Gamecocks opened the day with a doubles win. On doubles court three, Kennesaw's Ben Hudson and Xavi Ferrer beat
Alin Fatu and
Charlie Penman 6-3. On court two,
Lucius Soller and
Marko Milosavljevic evened things up with a 6-1 win against Dominic Ducariu and Nathan Walters.
David Krasner and
Timo De Visser clinched doubles on court one with a 6-4 over Kyvan Rietkerk and Leon Peranovic.
In singles, Jax State kept the winning going when Krasner had a 7-5, 6-2 triumph over Hudson on court two. On court one, Penman defeated Peranovic 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 in straight-sets to put the Gamecocks in front 3-0. Erik Vladimirov got the Owls on the board with a 6-4, 6-4 win over De Visser.
Ferrer made it 3-2 Jax State with his 7-6 (7-0), 6-3 win against Fatu.
Aman Dahiya clinched the win for the Gamecocks on court three. Kennesaw's Ducariu beat Dahiya 6-3 in the opening set. Dahiya then took the second set 6-2. Dahiya won the third set in a tiebreaker by a score of 7-6 (8-6).
On court four, Milosavljevic won the first set against Walters 7-6 (7-5). Walters won the second set 6-3 to force a third set. The third set was tied 3-3 but went unfinished due to Dahiya clinching on court three.
Jax State moves on to the CUSA Tennis Championships in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on April 17-19. More information will be available at JaxStateSports.com as it is released.
