Milosavljevic, Murphy Claim Singles Titles at Grizzly Invitational

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Jacksonville State men's tennis turned in a strong showing at the Grizzly Invitational, highlighted by singles draw championships from Marko Milosavljevic and Zach Murphy as the Gamecocks collected 12 total victories during the event.
Both Milosavljevic and Murphy capped undefeated singles runs with championship victories over players from Georgia Tech.
Milosavljevic captured the Black Draw championship with three consecutive straight-set victories. He opened the tournament with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win over The Citadel's Graham Hardin, then downed North Alabama's Samu Dominguez Balfour 6-0, 6-4, in the semifinals. In the championship match, Milosavljevic knocked off Georgia Tech's Mason Taube 6-3, 6-2, to complete a perfect singles weekend.
Murphy matched Milosavljevic's performance by claiming the Grizzly Draw title. He battled past UAB's Frechet,6-2, 6-7(2), 10-8, in the quarterfinals. Murphy then defeated Georgia State's Bonivento 7-5, 6-2. He wrapped up his title run with an impressive 6-2, 6-4 victory over Georgia Tech's Owen Demuth in the final.
David Krasner also put together a strong singles performance for Jax State, earning a pair of victories and finishing third in the Green Draw. Krasner defeated The Citadel's Brady Gober 6-2, 6-2, in the quarterfinals. He closed his weekend with a 7-5, 3-6, 10-5 victory over Georgia Gwinnett's Kanan Gasimov in the third-place match.
Aman Dahiya added another singles victory for the Gamecocks, defeating Georgia State's Arthur Attrill 7-6(7), 6-3.
The weekend also marked a milestone for Brayden Helms, who recorded the first Division I singles and doubles victories of his Gamecock career. Helms rallied after dropping the opening set to defeat The Citadel's Will Hart 4-6, 6-1, 10-8, for his first D-I singles win.
Helms then teamed with Dahiya to earn his first doubles victory as the Gamecock duo rolled past The Citadel's Anthony Osipov and Hardin, 6-1.
Jax State also found success at the top of the doubles lineup. Murphy and Milosavljevic advanced to the championship match of the Doubles A Draw after defeating Georgia Gwinnett's Jit Singh and Gasimov 7-6(3), and North Alabama's Satoru Nakajima and Rytis Razminas 6-4. The Gamecock tandem finished runner-up after a tightly contested 7-6(8) championship match against UAB's Ondrej Valek and Juan Pablo Valdez.
