TUSCALOOSA, ALA. – Jax State volleyball rounds out their nonconference season with three matches at Alabama's Crimson Classic. The Gamecocks take on Alabama Thursday at 6 p.m., Southern Friday at 12 p.m., and Nicholls Friday at 7 p.m.

The Gamecocks are coming off an 0-2 weekend at the 2026 Samford Invitational last week where they fell 3-0 to North Alabama on Sep. 12 and 3-1 against Samford on Sep. 13.

Jax State saw Taya Nordmann and Claire Evans match a team-high 15 kills offensively against the two in-state foes. The pair also had 2.14 kills per set across the two matches. Sophia Schweikert added 13 kills on a team-leading 2.17 kills per set. Lauren Buchanan tallied 11 kills over the two matches to round out the double-digit kills performers.

Delaney Moon led the way on the backrow for the Gamecocks with 35 digs on 5.00 digs per set. Setter Sofia Varela had the next highest number of digs with 15. Buchanan and Schweikert both added 10 digs, respectively. Varela had a team-best 33 assists and 4.71 assists per set. Addison Stone had the next most assists with 23 on 3.29 per set.

Alabama is 5-1 overall and 3-0 at home thus far this season. The Crimson Tide host Alcorn State Wednesday at 6 p.m. before facing the Gamecocks Thursday. The match Friday between Southern and Jax State is the second meeting of the season between the two squads. Jax State defeated Southern 3-1 back on Aug. 29 in the Gamecock Classic at Pete Mathews Coliseum. Southern is 2-6 on the season.

Nicholls is 6-4 overall this season, including a 3-1 mark in neutral site matches. The Colonels face Grambling Wednesday at 6:30 at home. Grambling beat Nicholls on Sep. 2 by a score of 3-1 at Grambling.

The match against Alabama marks the eighth time the teams have played each other. The Crimson Tide are 6-1 all-time against Jax State. Against Southern, Jax State holds a 2-0 all-time record, including a 3-1 win earlier this season in the Gamecock Classic. Jax State is 5-0 all-time versus the Nicholls Colonels.
