Women’s Golf Heads to Kentucky

Jax State will play in back-to-back tournaments hosted by SEC programs starting on Monday when they take part in the 13-team Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky's Big Blue Course in Lexington.
The Gamecocks took seventh in their fall debut last week, posting rounds of 294, 296, and 290 to finish at +16 as a group, two shots better than Troy, and six clear of James Madison. Junior Lara El Chaib posted a Top 10 finish and was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week after opening her season with a four-under round of 68 and followed it up with an even-par 72. Her 14 birdies led the team and were tied for third-most in the field.
Julie Waldo (23rd), Julie Ulvenes Kleppe (31st), and Caitlin Shippam (50th) also posted top 50 finishes in the field and posted a round of even or better during the tournament.
The Bettie Lou Evans Invitational is a 54-hole tournament broken up over two days with the first two rounds beginning on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. Eastern shotgun start on the Par-72, 6,242-yard course. The Gamecocks will be paired with East Carolina starting on the fourth hole through seventh holes for the first two rounds.
The tournament is named for former UK women's golf coach who held the role from 1979 to 2001 before serving as director of operations for both the women's and men's teams for the next 17 years. She passed away on September 26, 2023.
