Patel Leads Gamecocks in Successful Weekend at Samford Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Aneka Patel led the way for Jax State women's tennis during a successful weekend at the Samford Invitational. All six Gamecocks who competed earned at least one singles victory during the tournament.

Patel led the Gamecocks with a perfect 3-0 singles record, earning victories over opponents from UAB, South Alabama and host Samford. She also teamed up with Alba Roche to pick up a doubles victory against UAB.

Anna Medvyedyeva and Dariia Medviedieva each collected two singles victories. Medvyedyeva earned wins over South Alabama and Samford, while Medviedieva defeated opponents from South Alabama and UAB. They also teamed up to earn a doubles victory over UAB.

Rounding out the six-player lineup, Sae Kaneko, Emma La Montagner and Alba Roche each picked up one victory apiece in singles, with all three earning their wins against Samford.

With every athlete contributing to the win, the Gamecocks showcased the depth and competitiveness of their lineup throughout the weekend. The strong showing against UAB, South Alabama and Samford gives Jax State another positive step forward this fall as the Gamecocks continue building toward the spring season.

The Gamecocks are back in action Oct. 8 through Oct. 12 at the ITA South Regionals. The matches are being held in Baton Rouge, La., at LSU.
