Ran cross country at Brother Martin High School and helped bring home an LHSAA Boys Division I Team Runner-Up honor. Maitrejean placed 11th in the race. During his junior year at Brother Martin, Maitrejean earned All-State honors with a 15:41.61 time in the state championship meet. Also was a member of the school soccer team.
