JSU CAREER
2019: Appearded in 28 of JSU's 30 matches, missing one weekend with injury...opened the season in JSU's libero role but took on a leadership role as she moved into a back row sub throughout the year...had 15 aces from the service line and assisted on 23 kills...along the back row she compiled 210 digs with eight double-digit dig matches...recorded a season-best 17 digs against ETSU during the opening weekend...helped guide JSU to a 20-10 record and 13-3 league mark to win the Ohio Valley Conference championship.
2018: Appeared in 30 of JSU’s 32 matches as a sophomore, missing a pair of contests due to concussion-like symptoms…became a regular back row defender and slid into the primary libero role midway through the season…had 12 matches with double-digit digs, including a career-best 28 at Belmont on Nov. 2…finished with 276 digs, 56 assists and 21 aces.
2017: Made her collegiate debut against Towson in the season-opener on Aug. 25…appeared in 22 matches as a true freshman…had a season-high four digs at Western Carolina (8/26) and versus Houston Baptist (9/2)…finished the year with 25 digs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for head coach Amy Cataline at Austin High in Sugar Land, Texas…earned District Defensive MVP leading the Bulldogs with more than 600 digs as a senior…named VYPE Defensive Player of the Year for the Houston area after guiding AHS to a second-straight undefeated district championship…led AHS to a combined 80-15 record during her final two seasons…played club for the Houston Juniors.
PERSONAL: Full name Daniela Steele…born July 29, 1999 in Houston, Texas…the daughter of Melissa and Jeff Steele…has two older brothers, Justin and Jackson…loves Italian food and listens to hip-hop music…plans on majoring in Sports Management.
