JACKSONVILLE – Scott Robertson overcame a 5-4 deficit in the third set to defeat Fausto Rocha, 7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 7-5 and give Jacksonville State a 4-3 win over Belmont University (1-2) in the season opener at the JSU Tennis Courts on Saturday.

The Gamecocks (1-0) swept the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Bernardo Bachino and Gustavo Holz defeated Rocha and Ranato Antun at No. 1 while Eduardo Saratt and Scott Robertson downed Javier Rodriguez and Felipe Curne-Lima at No 2. Chris Duke and Steffen Solomon secured the sweep over Joao Paoliello and Rodrigo Amaral.

Saratt defeated Rodriguez at No. 2 singles to give JSU a 2-0 lead before Belmont claimed wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles to tie the match 2-2. Solomon captured the win at No. 6 over Cirna-Lima while Amaral's win at No. 3 singles tied the match at 3-3 with No. 1 singles still playing in the third set.

Jacksonville State returns to action on Friday against Alabama State in Montgomery, Ala., at 1:30 p.m.
