
Gamecocks Cruise to 24-3 Win Over Southeast Missouri State

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Senior Ryan Perrilloux threw for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead Jacksonville State to a 24-3 win over Southeast Missouri State on Saturday afternoon.
The win secured the Gamecocks' seventh consecutive winning season under head coach Jack Crowe and the 41st winning season since the modern era of JSU football began in 1947.
Perrilloux found eight different receivers, led by Alan Bonner with 54 yards and a touchdown and Greg Smith added 51 yards on a pair of receptions.
The Gamecocks got on the scoreboard after Perrilloux tossed his first touchdown of the day on a 4-yard pass to Justin Howard with 7:56 left in the first quarter.
Jax State then forced a turnover on the ensuing kickoff and James Shaw picked up the fumble and raced 29 yards for a touchdown as the Gamecocks built a 14-0 lead with 7:39 left.
JSU answered on its next possession as Perrilloux connected with Bonner on a 54-yard touchdown pass to Alan Bonner as the Gamecocks extended the lead to 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Patrick Tatum added a 22-yard field goal with just 25 seconds left in the second quarter as the Gamecocks held a 24-0 lead at the half.
Southeast scored its only points of the day on a 33-yard field goal by Curtis Huge late in the third quarter for the final margin.
The Jax State defense limited Southeast to just 77 passing yards and the Gamecock defense has allowed just one offensive touchdown over the last 10 quarters – a span of 154 minutes and 35 seconds.
Senior Alexander Henderson recorded a season-high 17 tackles, including two tackles for loss and one fumble recovery, which was returned for 14 yards to stop a SEMO threat in the third quarter. Kevin Dix was second with 11 tackles, while Keginald Harris had 10 tackles in his first career start.
Jacksonville State returns to action on Saturday against Tennessee Tech. Kickoff is set for 12 noon at Paul Snow Stadium.
POST-GAME NOTES
- Captains for the Gamecocks: Senior WR James Wilkerson, senior OL Reggie Wade, senior defensive lineman Brandt Thomas and senior linebacker Alexander Henderson.
- Southeast Missouri won the coin toss and deferred to the second half.
- With the win today, the Gamecocks posted their seventh straight winning season under Jack Crowe. It was also the 41st winning season for Jacksonville State, since the modern era of JSU football began in 1947.

- James Shaw returned a fumble 29 yards for a touchdown with 7:39 left in the first quarter. It was his third touchdown of the season and his first fumble return for a score. It was the first fumble returned for a touchdown for the Gamecocks since Marquise Elston returned one five yards vs Chattanooga on Sept. 8, 2007.
- Ryan Perrilloux tossed a 54-yard touchdown pass to Alan Bonner with 2:57 left in the first quarter. It was the 12th pass of 20-yards or longer for Perrilloux this season.
- T.J. Heath blocked the Gamecocks first kick of the season when he blocked a punt late in the first quarter. It was the first blocked punt for JSU since Taurean Rhetta at SEMO on Nov. 17, 2007.
- Senior Ryan Perrilloux has now thrown at least one touchdown pass in 18 of his 19 games at JSU.
- Perrilloux has thrown for 200 yards 16 times in his career and 11 as a Gamecocks. He has thrown for over 100 yards in all 19 games in a JSU uniform and 20 times in his career.
