2009 OUTLOOK: Enters his senior season ranked ninth in JSU history in career receptions per game with 2.09…is the most experienced receiver for the Gamecocks…had an excellent spring and has worked hard this summer to add to his career numbers…an experienced big play receiver with an instinct for making downfield plays…could becomes one of the school’s all-time leading receivers with a big year in 2009.

JSU CAREER:
2008: Saw action in 10 of the Gamecocks’ 11 games as a junior and was in the starting lineup for eight of them…caught 32 passes for 516 yards, which were both second on the team, and three touchdowns…averaged 16.1 yards per catch, which was fifth in the OVC, and 51.6 receiving yards per game, which ranked 10th in the league…had a 39-yard reception against Tennessee State (11/15)...caught three passes for 25 yards against Tennessee Tech (11/8)...posted career-highs with eight catches for 123 yards and a nine-yard touchdown reception against Austin Peay (11/1)...hauled in a 66-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Perrilloux to pull the Gamecocks to within one point with 4:38 left in the fourth quarter against UT Martin...caught three passes for 32 yards in the Murray State game (10/18)...hauled in a career-high five passes for 57 yards against Eastern Kentucky (10/11)...caught two passes for 45 yards with a long of 35 against Southeast Missouri...had four receptions for 55 yards and caught a 17-yard touchdown pass for JSU’s first score against Eastern Illinois...caught a season-high four passes for 41 yards against Chattanooga (9/20)...saw his first action of the season against Alabama A&M (9/6) after missing the season opener versus Georgia Tech (8/28).

2007:
Appeared in all 11 games for the Gamecocks as a sophomore, earning the start against Chattanooga on Sept. 8…was fifth on the team with 14 catches for 190 yards, an average of 13.6 yards per reception…caught first reception of season vs. UTC on Sept. 8 for 11 yards...had a season-high five receptions for 73 yards at Memphis on Sept. 15...had two catches for 16 yards vs UT Martin on Oct. 4...had one catch for 13 yards at Samford on Nov. 3.

2006: Saw action as a reserve wide receiver in all 11 games for the Gamecocks as a redshirt-freshman…despite not drawing a start, was the team’s second leading receiver after hauling in 21 passes for 392 yards and two touchdowns…averaged 18.7 yards per catch and 35.6 yards per game…was on the receiving end of the two longest offensive plays of the season for the Gamecocks, catching a 72-yard Matt Hardin pass against Samford on Nov. 11 and a 70-yard touchdown pass from Hardin against Tennessee State on Oct. 21…went over the 100-yard plateau in each of those games, hauling in 110 yards on five catches against Tennessee State and 114 yards on just three catches against Samford…caught two passes for 45 yards, including a 32-yard reception, on Oct. 28 at Tennessee Tech.

2005: Sat out the season as a redshirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped two years at Crestview High School… was named team captain and Most Valuable Player as a senior… named first team All-State in 2004… a member of the North-South Florida All-Star game… recorded 52 catches and 1,082 yards as a senior…

Full name is James Anthony Wilkerson…son of James Wilkerson and Darlene Sylvester…born July 6, 1987…has one sister, Kalani Ashston…major is Sociology at JSU.
