JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team's Ohio Valley Conference Tournament begins on Saturday at 4 p.m., when the Gamecocks host Tennessee Tech in a game in which the winner will earn the eighth and final spot in the league tournament next week.
The Gamecocks and the Golden Eagles are currently tied for eighth place in the league standings going into the final day of the regular season, with the top eight teams advancing to the conference championship.
Prior to the game, the Gamecocks will honor their two seniors before they take the floor at Pete Mathews Coliseum for the final time. Guards DeAndre Bray and Jonathan Toles will close a pair of impressive JSU careers.
Bray, the team's only fourth-year player, will leave Jacksonville State in second on the school's Division I career assists list, while also ranking third in the school's Division I history in steals. The fourth-shortest player in Division I at 5-foot-6, the Atlanta native will also tie the school's Division I record for games played when he takes the floor against TTU, marking his 115th career game in a JSU uniform.
Toles, a 6-foot-1 guard from Montgomery, Ala., wraps up a two-year Jacksonville State career that began after he transferred from Bevill State Community College prior to the 2007-08 season. In his two-year stint at JSU, Toles has developed a reputation as being one of the toughest players and best defenders in the OVC. On top of that, he has amassed 574 points and dished 200 assists. He has also knocked down 42 percent of his career attempts from behind the arc.
