2007-08
Saw action in 27 of the Gamecocks’ 29 games as a junior after missing two games with a knee injury…earned the starting nod 19 times, including 17 in OVC play…was fourth on the team in scoring with an average of 9.9 points per game, while finishing second on the squad in assists with an average of 3.19 per contest…averaged 3.1 rebounds and 1.41 steals per game, while shooting .413 from the floor and .486 from behind the 3-point line, second in the OVC…was named the OVC Newcomer of the Week on Jan. 14 after a week that saw him average 17.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game…took him 12 games to score in double figures for the first time, but he hit 10 or more points 11 times in his last 16 games…scored a season-high 23 points against Georgia State on Feb. 23, thanks to a 5-for-10 effort from the floor and an 11-for-12 showing from the free throw line…scored 21 points against Tennessee Tech on Jan. 10…pulled in a season-high seven rebounds in the final game of the season at Southeast Missouri on March 1…dished a season-high seven assists against Tennessee Temple on Nov. 12.

PRIOR TO JSU
Played his sophomore season for head coach Rick Bolling at Bevill State Community College in Jasper, Ala., after transferring from Okaloosa-Walton Community College…as a sophomore, was the top-ranked JUCO point guard in Alabama after averaging 11 points per game while dishing out 8.6 assists per game, the most in the state and fourth-most in the nation…also ranked seventh in the state with 2.2 steals per game and ninth with a 3.4 assist/turnover ratio…was named the team’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player…shot 42 percent from the floor and 37 percent from behind the arc…was an honorable mention All-American for his efforts in leading BSCC to a No. 18 national ranking…an all-state and all-region honoree by the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC)…as a freshman at Okaloosa-Walton, led the Raiders and the conference in assists en route to earning first team all-region honors…dished out 5.7 assists per game, while scoring 7.1 points per game.

HIGH SCHOOL
Played his senior season at Carver High School in Montgomery, Ala…a first team all-state selection and an all-metro selection by the Montgomery Advertiser…led CHS to the AHSAA Final Four after claiming the titles at the area tournament and the Southeast Region Tournament…was a second-team all-state selection by the Alabama Sportswriters Association in 2004…was an all-region performer at Lee High School in Montgomery as a sophomore, leading the Generals to the area title.

Full name is Jonathan Deon Toles…born on Feb. 3, 1986, in Montgomery, Ala…the son of Curtis and Rose Toles…has an older brother, Joseph Dennis and an Older sister, Japonica…also has two twin brothers, Ronell and Donell Taylor, who played basketball at UAB…Donell is now with the Washington Wizards, while Ronell is in the NBDL…plans to major in sociology/physical education at JSU.
