RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky won the battle of first place teams in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 5-2 win over Jacksonville State at the Greg Adams Indoor Tennis Center on Friday.

The Colonels improved to 16-5 overall and 5-0 in the OVC, taking over sole possession of first place. Jax State fell to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

EKU won all three double matches to go up 1-0 heading into singles and then won four-of-six single matches to claim the win. 

JSU's lone points came at No. 2 and No. six singles. Martina Dessbesell defeated Svetlana Pimenova 6-4, 0-6, 6-3, and Kristen Fuller downed Jemma Euers, 6-2, 6-2.

Jacksonville State remains on the road on Saturday against Morehead State at 10 a.m. in Morehead, Ky.
