FINAL RESULTS
CHOUDRANT, La. – Senior
Tom Robson turned in an even-par 72 on Tuesday to finish tied for third but the Jacksonville State men's golf team fell to fifth in the final round of the Squire Creek Invitational.
The Gamecocks carded a 306 on the final 18 holes for a total of 884 on the 54-hole event at the 7,105-yard Squire Creek Golf and Country Club to fall one spot in the 13-team tournament. Southern Miss won the event with a three-round total of 854, eight shots ahead of host Louisiana Tech. Southeastern Louisiana claimed third, while Sam Houston State ended up passing Jax State into fourth place.
Robson, a senior from Portsmouth, England, had JSU's low score on the day and used it to finish at five-under on the tournament. His 54-hole 211 tied with Zach Estep from Southern Miss for third in the 75-player field. Sam Houston State's Scott Kelly won individual medalist honors with an eight-under 208, one stroke better than Southern Miss' Derek Plucienski.
Junior
Andres Schonbaum tied for 25th for Jacksonville State after his final round 79 gave him a three-round total of 222. Sophomore
Dorian Fernandez turned in a 75 on Tuesday to finish tied for 37th with a 225, while freshman
Tomasz Anderson fell to 54th with a final-round 82. Rounding out the Gamecocks; lineup was senior
Alfonso Otoya, whose, final-round 80 left him in a tie for 56th.
The Gamecocks' next tournament is scheduled for Oct. 17-18 at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate on the Links at Novadell in Hopkinsville, Ky.
